Making pork chops in the oven is super easy. When you cook them in the oven you can cook your veggies at the same time, making dinner quick and easy.
The trick here is to choose a baking dish that's not too big. You want the pork chops to be fairly snug so that their juices don't evaporate while cooking. It makes the chops juicier.
- Rub some olive oil and spices over the pork chops.
- Pop them into your oven.
That's it! Seriously, these are easy pork chops at their best!

How long to bake pork chops at 400 degrees?
The biggest ‘trick' to making oven baked pork chops is to not overcook them. Since pork chops are lean meat, they will dry out if you leave them in the oven for too long. But don't worry, here's an easy way to know exactly how long you should cook your chops.
In a 400 degree Fahrenheit oven, boneless pork chops need to cook for 7 minutes per ½ inch of thickness. If you are using bone-in pork chops, add an extra minute for each ½ inch.
If you're new to making roasted pork chops, the best way to tell if they are fully cooked is to use an instant read meat thermometer. Pork should be cooked to an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit. We use our meat thermometer to make sure the meat doesn't overcook.
Which spices are the best with pork?
We make a spice mix that that gets rave reviews from everyone who tries it. It's our go-to spice that we use on both chicken and pork. We've made it so many times and we never get tired of it. Here's what is in it:
- Paprika
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- Oregano
- Salt
- Pepper
It's a basic spice rub that has so much flavor!

This made me love pork when I never thought I could. I don’t even have long enough after taking them out of the fridge to heat them up; I can’t resist eating them!
Great basic recipe except for the salt. One pork chop is more than one third of total sodium intake for a day!
Can you delete my previous recipe and replace with this:
I have never been a fan of pork chops, they have always seemed dry and tasteless to me – but there was a sale and I could not resist the price, I got several packages of chops. Then I went online and tried different recipes, still didn’t like pork shops afterwards. UNTIL I found this recipe. I made these 4 times last week!! That is how good they are. They turn out so moist and tender, the flavour rivals that of the best steak I have ever eaten. I am now prepping a dish of them to deliver to shut in family members and I am sure they will love them too! Thank you for changing my mind about pork chops!
Awesome & juicy!
This is always a big hit with my family! And it’s easy!
This was delicious! At first bite, I thought I had too much Paprika, on the second bite – I couldn’t get enough of the spices! The chops were in fact very juicy! Will definitely make again!
I made this recipe tonight using two 1 and 1/2 inch thick bone in pork chops. I took all the dry ingredients and mixed them in a very small container. I used smoked paprika instead of regular paprika. I put the two pork chops in a storage back, rubbed one side generously with olive oil, then poured 1/2 of the dry mixture onto the pork chops and rubbed the seasoning in. Then I flipped the storage bag, and repeated the process with the olive oil, and dry ingredients. I let the pork chops marinate for about 3 hours that way. I bake them at 400 for 15 minutes, then flipped them over and baked another 15 minutes. I have to say they were the most favorable and moist pork chops I’ve ever had. Thanks for this recipe.
Very juicy
Excellent. Timing was perfect. Moist and so delicious! Thanks. I’m going to make this for company the next time.
Delicious but needed a few more minutes of baking. Wouldn’t change anything else!
delicious!! My pork chops usually come out dry and boring but these pork chops came out moist and they were really good. It took exactly 18 minutes just like the recipe said. I will add this to my rotation of dinners and I can’t wait to do the grilled version once summer comes.
Thank-you! So easy. So delicious!
Can you use honey instead of oil?
BrianJ
I wouldn’t use it instead of oil, but you could add some if you’d like your chops to be sweet.
Delicious! The best pork chops I have ever tasted
excellent juicy and easy . so good will make them again. have been trying to master pork chops for a while now .
Thank you, I love me some pork chops mostly fried but to find this recipe on baked pork chops which is more healthier and for these to be so good. Keep up the good work and thanks again 👍.
These were the juiciest chops I’ve made, though they got up to 151 degrees in 18 minutes. I’ll try 16 or 17 minutes next time and they’ll be perfect. We don’t eat onion, garlic, or black pepper, so I wonder if there’s something else we could add to kick up the flavor?
You could try Italian seasoning, cayenne pepper (if you like spice), or if you have a favorite spice rub you could use that!
I tried this recipe tonight. It was amazing.
Cooking time was way off. Ended up doubling the time
I would like to make this tonight, what level should my oven rack be on? I usually have it on the first or second level unless otherwise instructed on a recipe. I’ve seen videos were the rack is in the center for pork chops. This looks like it is going to be delicious! Thanks for any help!
Good question, Michelle! We put the chops in the middle of the oven.
While trying to cut out calories and fried foods. This recipe hits all those requirements while still being delicious. It’s a no fuss easy to do recipe.
My husband has never been a fan of pork chops. I found this recipe and he raved about these. I will be making them more often now. I’ve never had pork chops as tender and juicy as these were!!
The best juiciest pork chop recipe ever!
This is my go-to for thick boneless chops. I leave out the oregano (my husband isn’t a fan), and I use ROASTED garlic powder (as it’s truly magical). Use a meat thermometer and you’ll never go wrong with this recipe. It’s our favorite – simple, quick, and delicious!
Followed recipe, no alterations. These were quite good considering how easy the prep was and how moist they were. But the flavor is a little lackluster for my taste. I’d give the recipe 5 stars if I hadn’t discovered Parmesean crusted keto chops. But – they are a bit more work! Ty, this will be in my rotation when I’m short on time!
Hello Kristen. I’m mailing from Japan. I hope my English is ok. I try your pork chop recipe and the taste was very nice. Meat is soft and juice alot. I would like to say thank you for sharing recipe. I really enjoy it very much.
Wow I’m not sure what to say about the negative commenters except, is this the first blog recipe site you’ve ever been on? In my experience all are set up the same
Made these chops tonight, stayed juicy. and just enough spice. Did a sheet pan of brussel sprouts, butternut squash, and yukon golds to go along. Will make these again!
Would a cast iron pan be a good vehicle for the chops? Seems ir would be the perfect size.
That would work well!
Overall they were tasty. I did add a few things to the pan before cooking. I added a splash of Worcestershire, white cooking wine, minced garlic and topped the chops with a little Dijon mustard. I’m not the biggest fan of how strong the oregano is with this dish, so I’ll probably skip it next time. The cooking time and temp were pretty accurate, I had to go a touch longer than recommended, but nothing too crazy! Thanks for the info about using a smaller pan to keep all the juices in! Will definitely Use this again in the future!
Easy, juicy and delicious!!
I want to double the pork chops shall l double the pork chops and all the rest?
Yes! You’ll want twice the seasoning, too. 🙂
This recipe is super simple yet very juicy and flavorful. I’m not a big fan of pork chops but my husband is so when I came across this recipe I had to try it for its simplicity and short prep/bake time…… I’m glad I did!
I was looking for a good boneless pork chop recipe and can I say we loved it just as you said juicy
A very tender and tasty chop. The best I have ever made. To reach 145 degrees in the center, my boneless 1/2″ chops baked 28 minutes in a 400 degree oven. Thank you for the recipe! It will become a favorite of my family. My daughter NEVER eats baked pork. She says it is too dry and hurts her teeth to chew it. She loved this recipe. Kudos to KRISTEN STEVENS!
My pork chops were dry and tough I baked them just like the recipe said and they were tough. Sorry, but, I want use this recipe again. I’m sorry.
These pork chops were the best! I used bone-in chops and followed the recipe except that they took a bit longer to bake as I was roasting a vegetable at the same time. Great seasonings, easy to prepare and juicy just like the recipe states. I’ve tried several baked pork chop recipes and this is the one I’m keeping! Thank you!
I love this super simple & flavorful recipe. We raise pigs for consumption, I will be using this method regularly. Ty.
